A thunderclap is the final blast of the symphony. The dripping rain is the end of the last movement. And now the encore begins. Clouds break and the sun reclaims the sky. A majestic rainbow towers above the mountains. Every drop of moisture inside this heavenly broadcast is refracting and dispersing light. This time, the sunlight is reflected twice in a brilliant display of color. A second rainbow becomes visible above the first. This second arc appears to mirror the radiance of original rainbow, but the colors are inverse and it is slightly dimmer. An Alexander's Band, an area of darker sky, separates the two colossal rainbows. Observers gasp at the visual feast before them. Hearts are lifted and the racing urgency of work is slowed, just for a moment, to enjoy the beauty of this wonderful moment.
