Welcome to Soft Flex Company. We are a trusted beading wire manufacturer and jewelry making tool distributor in Sonoma, California. We sell our products to bead stores, hobby and craft chain stores, jewelry manufacturers, wholesale jewelry suppliers, jewelry designers, and hobbyists. Our products cover the spectrum from high end beads and supplies to economical solutions for jewelry making and crafting. Many of our products are made in the USA, but our product is shipped worldwide.
We got our start when owner Mike Sherman brainstormed a way to make better jewelry. He loved bead stringing and making gallery quality designs. He often took apart antique pieces and put them together in a new modern form and then would sell his unique designs to local galleries. Unfortunately, at the time, the stringing materials available were not adequate. Most people used Tiger Tail, which would kink and then easily break. Others used fishing line, which would dry up and snap eventually - if the beads didn’t cut through it first. He realized he needed a stronger beading wire and a much softer drape than anything that was on the market.
Mike invented Soft Flex Beading Wire with help from his partner Scott Clark. This marine quality stainless steel beading wire was not afraid of heavy beads and chunky stones. It offered strength, durability, and a drape that was thread-like - the strength of steel and the grace of silk. Mike realized that jewelry designers around the world could benefit from this amazing product.

Soft Flex Beading Wire is known worldwide as a superior beading wire. It is created by beaders for beaders. Compared to other brands, Soft Flex Beading Wire is often the strongest and most flexible beading wire available. This wire is kink-resistant. It is flexible and strong enough to be tied into a knot - it will not work harden or lose any strength where knotted. Our original line comes in three diameters: .014, .019, and .024. Soft Touch Beading Wire is our premium line. This is the brand we offer designers that want the softest drape available on the market. Soft Touch truly drapes like thread. This line comes in four diameters: .010, .014, .019, and .024. This is our go-to beading wire if we are working with fine beads, embellishing, knitting or just want our wire to cascade down like silk. Soft Touch is just luscious, threadlike and amazing. It has the same strength and durability as Soft Flex.
Soft Flex and Soft Touch are lead-free beading wires and are constructed of either 21 or 49 micro woven stainless steel wires. Our finest diameter - .010 - is comprised of 7 strands of micro woven wire.
Are you looking for the highest quality wire for red carpet pieces? Soft Flex Extreme is an elegant beading wire, free of heavy metals, for designers that want to add sparkle and shine to a piece that exposes the wire. This wire will not tarnish and is great for free floating necklaces and pendants. Soft Flex Extreme Wire is constructed of 1x19 micro woven metal alloy wires. It is supple enough that it can be knotted and comes in 3 radiant colors - 24k gold plated, 925 sterling silver plated and champagne. This product is not flash plated - each individual strand of metal alloy wire is plated before it is braided to make sure the desired metallic color is truly seen. It is available in 3 diameters: .014, .019, and .024.
Basic Usage:
.010 Very Fine - Ideal for embellishing, weaving, crocheting and stringing very small beads. We suggest finishing with 1x1mm crimps.
.014 Fine - Ideal for soft materials, seed beads and freshwater pearls. We suggest finishing with 2x2mm crimps.
.019 Medium - Ideal all purpose wire. Great with glass, mineral, and metal beads. We suggest finishing with 2x2mm crimps.
.024 Heavy - Ideal for abrasive materials, large stones, lamp work and bracelets. We suggest finishing with 2x3mm crimps.
There is more to Soft Flex Company than just beading wire. We also carry a high quality, permanently colored copper wire that is a dream for any wire wrapping project. Soft Flex Craft Wire is resistant to scratching, peeling and marring. It is 100% lead and nickel free. There are no other metals used in the wire production other than copper and fine silver. The temper of the wire is soft. It is firmer than similar wire products offered on the market, which are typically only available in dead soft and can't be tempered to half hard. Craft Wire comes in a wide spectrum of colors and will not tarnish or fade. Bare Copper is the only wire in the line that is not treated. If antiques and old findings are your medium, Bare Copper will patina - perfect for making that new project look like an heirloom. An exceptional design idea deserves a professional craft wire.
