We Are Living In A Barbie World
History Of Barbie
Barbara Millicent Roberts strutted onto the world stage in March, 1959. She was created by Ruth Handler and manufactured by Mattel toy company. Mattel was founded by Ruth, her husband Elliot and business partner Harold "Matt" Matson. The name of the company is derived from the pairing of Matson and Elliot's names.
Ruth got the idea to create Barbie after watching her child Barbara play with dolls. Barbara played with her dolls as if they were adults, rather than infants, which was the norm for dolls at the time. Ruth was intrigued with the idea of an adult doll. During a trip to Europe with her family, Ruth came across a German adult doll named Bild Lilli. Ruth purchased Lilli dolls and went about redesigning the doll to fit the image she had in her head.
Barbie was introduced to the world at a toy fair in New York City on March 9, 1959. This date became the official birth date of Barbie.
Barbie may have had a small beginning, but she has seen extensive revisions and options. Barbie was given a backstory and a boyfriend named Kenneth Sean Carson - who we all know, simply, as Ken. Barbie has been a progressive figure in female strength and ideals. She is a career minded woman with no limits. She has been an astronaut, a business woman, an active duty military woman, and more. She has been in politics, an athlete, and even a superhero. Barbie has no limits and the world is her playground.
Barbie is also a symbol of diversity and a role model for woman from all walks of life. Barbie can be found in a rainbow of skin tones and a range of body types. She has also been designed to give children with challenges a friendly face. Share a Smile Becky Barbie was a doll that was in a wheelchair. Barbie's Dream House was resigned so Becky's wheelchair would fit in the elevator in the house.
Barbie is not slowing down. She has conquered media of all forms. She has become a cultural icon. Barbie has had streets named after her. Artists have painted her likeness and aimed to capture her mystique. Businesses have opened that have tried to capture her audience. And now she is on the big screen with a brand new adventure!

Barbie jewelry is an exciting way to use remnant beads. Remnant beads are the beads in your collection that did not fit on another necklace or bracelet design. Remnant beads are often a mix of regret and sadness - you love them but there are not enough to use in a design or they just don't seem to pair up with other beads. With a smaller project, like a Barbie necklace, you can take advantage of all of your remnant beads.
Rosanna's designs are lush and gorgeous. The perfect jewelry for your Barbie! Add a pendant. Add an interesting focal or set of earrings to match a necklace. Be as daring as Barbie is!
Create a seasonal necklace or make Barbie jewelry for the holidays. Share your jewelry as gifts for a special occasion or involve your little ones and let them guide your inspiration!

Colorful Barbie Jewelry - Explore Barbiecore With Soft Flex Beading Supplies
Barbiecore was a name trending in social media last year. While the Barbie movie was in production in June 2022 , photos and stills from the set hit popular media. Images of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in radiant pink, illuminating yellows and brilliant blues caught the imagination of the fashion world.
Think Pink! That is the foundation of the Barbiecore trend. Pink - hot tones - loud and proud. That is the fashion. But the message of Barbiecore is to embrace the bright canvas with an upbeat and unconquerable attitude. Go all in and be the symbol of strength and power that Barbie is.
At Soft Flex Company, we were ahead of this trend with our Design Kits. Our Neon Nights debuted five years ago. We created a kit with loud colors and neon pinks. We wanted to challenge our community and friends with pairings that might seem difficult at first, but rewarding once a design was completed. You can find colorful beads and beading wire on our site. Live out loud!
Check out our Design Kits! Each kit is a themed collection of beading supplies. Each kit is perfect for giving Barbie a new necklace or twenty. You never know where one of our kits will transport you! All of our kits are thoughtfully designed and curated. You are going to love the supplies inside! Our kits are limited in quantity and usually sell out before the end of the month. At the end of each month, we reveal our recent kit on the Soft Flex Facebook page and YouTube Page. Open your kit when you get it or wait for Sara to reveal the contents and open yours along with us live!
Our kits are great for skill building. We want our kits to feel challenging. We want them to be accessible for beginners and advanced designers alike, but we love to throw in elements that may seem difficult to test our beaders skills and make them think out of the box. Our kits may be inspired by a colorway or theme, but they are meant to be creative interpretations. Imagination and innovation do not follow the rules. Expect the unexpected.
