This week, Kristen showed us how to create a six loop pattern with a Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Tool. She gives us the low down on what jewelry components are and how to use them. Kristen also created a stunning pair of earrings that you will love. James finished the week out with a look at how to use two colors on a Lazee Daizee to make a unique blended design.

Let's look at the Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Tool. If you have ever wanted to learn Viking Knit Weaving or would like to make the process simpler, this tool is going to amaze you. The disk on the top of the tool makes it easy to create looped “petals”. From there, the ridges along the length of the tool are a perfect guide to keep your loops uniform and even. The step-by-step instructions included makes everything foolproof.

The recommended gauges of wire to use are 24, 26, or 28 gauge Soft Flex Craft Wire, however by changing the number of loops being utilized in your design you can go as large as 20 gauge. The tool will not damage or scuff your Craft Wire. You can also use Soft Flex Beading Wire and create a wonderfully colorful design. Multiple stands of wire can be used with both tools. A draw plate will help you reduce the finished design down to your preferred width. The Lazee Daizee Draw Plate will accommodate both sizes of tools. Getting started is easy, but you may make a few mistakes, luckily the drawing down process hides the majority of those mistakes! You will be creating a beautiful weave while watching TV or talking to friends in no time. Multiple strands and sizes of viking knit can be used together to form a larger project. It lends itself to decorative applications such as adding headpins with embellishments and, when not drawn down or utilizing the bigger Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Tool, items like pearls and gems can be inserted inside the weave.

Kristen filmed another episode of Free Spirit Beading on Monday. Make sure you catch her live. She designs jewelry and discusses arts and crafts and gives out some incredibly helpful tips and tricks. She is live on Mondays at 12pm PST. Free Spirit Beading takes it's name from her design philosophy. She does not fret about mistakes while creating her art or jewelry but chooses to incorporate the 'errors' into her designs. She believes that mistakes are part of the journey and flaws can be beautiful. Be a free spirit and follow her!

This week, Kristen gave us an in-depth look at the Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Tool. She is not an expert at Viking Knit and this tool is new to her. So, this was a fun chance to see her tackle the challenge of using it. She has made several designs, but as she says, the tool is, "not in her wheelhouse".

If you are eager to try a new knitting project or if you are already familiar with Viking Knit but have never used the Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Tool, this tool is a game changer. Viking knit has never been easier.

Kristen shows us the Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Wire Weaving Tool 1/2" and the smaller Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Wire Weaving Tool 1/4". She discusses the differences between the two tools.

The instructions that are included with the tool give a great overview of how to use the tool and what kind of designs you can create. The instructions include eight suggestions for designing with the loops on the tool. Kristen opted to demo the six loop pattern on the Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Wire Weaving Tool 1/2"

These handy images show two of the patterns you can create with the Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Wire Weaving Tool. If you use all twelve loops, your finished design will be very wire intensive. If you like the look of knitted wire - this is a great pattern choice. Another option is to use six loops. This pattern will give you an open design.

Using a draw plate will condense your wire down to a smaller size. Draw plates are great if you want your jewelry to be uniform in size. You do not need to use a draw plate if you do not wish to - but look how amazing the wire looks once it is drawn down!

Jewelry Making Findings, Beading Components & Jewelry Demo

Kristen filmed a video discussing the findings you can find at Soft Flex CompanyFindings, also known as components, are the supplies you need to finish or embellish your jewelry. The term findings includes a range of items - crimpshead pinsclasps, and more. Kristen does a great job of demystifying the world of findings. She gives a description how each of our findings are used. Don't miss this video if you have any questions about jewelry components.

After discussing jewelry components, Kristen gave a wonderful demo on how to create a pair of earrings. The knitted design was created with the Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Tool and 26 gauge Soft Flex Craft Wire in Bare Copper. These earrings are stunning and so customizable. Add a bead or just have a hoop. Different colors of Soft Flex Craft Wire will give a unique finish.

Using The Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Tool To Blend Soft Flex Craft Wire Colors Together

James returned with another episode of Conversations in Wire. He uploads a new episode every other Thursday. His episodes are not live, but if you catch him when the episode is uploaded, he is on chat and ready to answer any questions about Soft Flex Craft Wire and wire wrapping - or in this case, knitting.

James wanted to show how to use two colors of wire on the Lazee Daizee Viking Knit Wire Weaving Tool. The colors blend and look so wonderful. For this design, he used all twelve loops on the tool. This makes the design very wire dense - which is perfect for blending colors.

James finished the video with a discussion on how to draw the design down through a draw plate. Draw plates are great for condensing the wire. They also elongate the piece as it draws down - so make sure you consider that. You do not need to use as much Soft Flex Craft Wire to create your jewelry if you are going to be finishing with a draw plate.
