Hawksbill sea turtles navigate the ocean with the grace of a bird in flight. Their flippers are almost winglike and are powerful tools for the turtle to glide through the vast expanse of ocean. These magnificent swimmers have been tracked traveling thousands of miles in their lifetimes. They tend to inhabit coral reefs and foraging areas near the shore. Hawksbills use their birdlike beak to hunt for food in hard to reach crevices in the reef. The Hawksbill Turtle is endangered. Humans unintentionally bycatch them during fishing operations. They get trapped in nets and gear. Pollution, warming oceans, and reef threats are a peril to their habitats and homes. Spread awareness with your turtle jewelry.
