DIY Beaded Stretch Elastic Bracelet Tutorial for Kids

This week on Free Spirit Beading with Kristen Fagan, I showed how to make a one strand beaded stretch elastic bracelet. Stretch bracelets made from Stretch Magic Elastic Cord are fun and easy to make. Whether you want to make stretchy bracelets to wear yourself, or your kids or grand-kids want to make them as an easy diy craft, they are a super simple way to introduce someone to the fun of jewelry making.

DIY Beaded Stretch Elastic Bracelet Tutorial for Kids

In this video tutorial, I share how to make a single strand stretch bracelet finished off with a surgeons knot and no glue! We have a great Kids Beading Activity Kit available that comes with Stretch Magic, an assortment of Czech Glass beads and ceramic Teeny Tiny Beads so, that is what I chose to use in this tutorial. If you buy this kit as a gift or for your own kids, this is a great how-to video to share! This project will require adult supervision and assistance for most children under the age of 12.

Supplies:

Stretch Magic Elastic Cord

Assorted Czech Glass Beads

Ceramic Teeny Tiny Beads

Bead Nippers or Scissors

Special T Glue (optional)

beading activity kit is a great way to share your passion and keep little ones busy during this time of social distancing and isolation. Children crave fun and educational opportunities to grow and blossom. Use this beading activity kit to show your youngest how to recognize colors and preschoolers how to count using beads. Show your grade school aged kids how to create and form beautiful patterns and your teens how to explore asymmetry and out of the box thinking.

This jewelry making kit is a STEAM learning activity (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). Beading teaches kids both engineering and art in one fun project. Math, too - if you are teaching your kiddos how to count! If your child is a Girl Scout, this kit is a great way to work on a Jeweler Badge. Skill Building Badges can be done at home and are great ways to keep occupied during quarantine.

Stretch Magic is easy to use for kids and beginners to complete a piece of jewelry. For added security, we recommend adding glue to your stretch cord knot. Special T Glue is excellent for use with Stretch Magic. While we do recommend using glue for extra security it's not always readily available and for that reason I wanted to share a single strand surgeons knotting technique that will be secure without glue.

If you are using beads that are heavier and with larger holes that can fit two strands through the beads, I have another video that uses the popular "Tricky Ricky" knot, that you can watch here.
