Mommy And Me Wizard Necklaces

Halloween Jewelry by Sara Oehler

Do you have a Harry Potter fan in your life? Sara has three!

We are knee deep in the illustrated version of Order of the Phoenix. So when I saw these Wizard in Training charms, I knew I had to make a set of Mommy and Me Wizard Necklaces for the upcoming Halloween season. Kids are thrilled with any beads. So I kept theirs simple: black Rola seed beads on bone colored Soft Flex beading wire with a lobster clasp. For the mommy design, I opted for the Halloween Hustle Bead Strand, gold Rola beads and a nicer toggle clasp.

Weave A Spider Web Pendant And Earrings With Soft Flex Craft Wire

Kristen is our spider queen! Every October, her spider costume gets more and more elaborate. There are murmurs around the office that her human form is merely a trick of the eye. In this jewelry making demonstration, she shows us how to spin a wicked cute spider web with Soft Flex Craft Wire.

How To Make A Spooky Scary Skeleton With Craft Wire

James Browning is one of our favorite creatives. He rolled the bones and created a spooky lil skelly with our Craft Wire. This decoration is perfect for gifts or decorations. You can make smaller versions and turn this scary little guy into a jewelry pendant. If you want to follow along, you will be making an army of the undead in no time. If you like this video, make sure you check out James' other fun craft videos. He is great for inspiration. Think Outside The Coffin With Jewelry Ideas From Sara Oehler & Deb Floros

We love spending time with ghost host, Sarah James, of Jesse James Beads. Every year, Soft Flex Company and JJB stage collaborative events. Our companies pair jewelry components and beads with groundbreaking jewelry designers. The beading parties we throw are full of fun and insightful jewelry instruction. Come Trick or Treat with us!

For Sara's portion of this fun video, we were treated to a costume party at her house. Sara's three cute kids showed off their Halloween costumes and then promised mommy that they would all be very quiet during the jewelry demonstration. Sara then showed us how to make non-traditional jewelry that is perfect for colorful ghosts.

Deb Floros, the owner and skeleton lord of Deb Luvs Jewelry Designs, showed us how to lay out design elements so there is a crystal ball vision of what the finished piece might look like. She placed her Jack O' Lantern beads out and showed us how she planned to use them in her design. She wire wrapped beads and tassels onto her scary little pumpkins. Rather than stringing the whole design with Soft Flex, she chose to use it as part of a handmade tassel. We think she made a truly otherworldly design!

Halloween Story Rings - A TierraCast Jewelry Making Demonstration

TierraCast ring components are incredibly versatile. You can use them to dangle charms. You can make a lovely set of earrings with two connectors. You can create magnificent bracelets and necklaces using the rings as focals or simple components. Tracy showed us how to use the rings for a mixed-media Halloween jewelry design. It is spooky how easy it is to make these incredible story rings. Add a little chilling fashion to your holiday costume!

Gorgeous Gothic Jewelry With Jesse James Beads

We think Jesse James Beads offers a spooky serving of the most wonderful beading products. That is why we carry an exclusive collection of their beads in each of our themed design kits. Sara wanted to see what kind of Halloween fun was in a Magical Mystery Bead Box. She unboxed a kit and found a frightening theme. If you love a little dark magic, make sure you check their website out!

Easy Halloween Earrings That Are Perfect For Wonderful Wizards

The beads from Golem Studio are to die for! We included a couple of these magical beads in a previous Halloween design kit. These mystical ceramic beauties are perfect for a set of earrings or a focal on a magical necklace. Kristen paired these beads with cute little crystal balls from Jesse James Beads. Make a pair of these earrings for your favorite Harry or Hermione!

A Knotted Necklace For Your Fall Outfits And Halloween Costumes

Why knot? Sara showed us how easy it is to knot Soft Flex Beading Wire. She added one part autumn, with a lovely leaf, and two parts pumpkin spice with the warm glow of orange and black beads. The Canterville Ghost and Marley's Ghost had an impeccable sense of style in the afterlife. They loved dragging chains. Sara opted to use a delicate chain that did not bang and clank. Who wants all of that ruckus in the middle of the night? This necklace is perfect for a paranormal party or just a breezy fall afternoon.

How To Make A Halloween Themed Stretch Bracelet

Kristen created a Halloween bracelet using Stretch Magic. This tutorial is perfect for creating jewelry for an adult or creating with the kiddos - this stringing material is great for little fingers and educating minds! If you have not worked with Stretch Magic before, here is what you need to know. Stretch Magic is a strong elastic-like cord. It is constructed of a mixture of polyester and polyurethane. Unlike some elastic cords, Stretch Magic will not fray over time. Stretch Magic does not contain any latex, rayon, or elastic.

Sara Shows Her Children How To String Jewelry With The Halloween Mini Design Kit

What is even more fun than playing with beads and making jewelry? Dressing up as your favorite heroes or movie characters and making jewelry! Sara's daughters made stringing fun by dressing up as Jessie and Bo Peep from Toy Story. How fun would it be to be a kid again? Wouldn't it be nice to enjoy your favorite hobby all decked out in your favorite character's gear?

The girls went about making a pattern they liked before Sara had them string their design. Pattern recognition is, of course, part of development. Encouraging pattern creation is a way to reinforce creativity and intelligent thought. Bead stringing is a part of STEAM education. Critical thinking skills are important for helping a child develop into a thoughtful and mindful adult. Bead stringing is great for collaboration, critical thought, problem solving, and hands-on learning. Bead stringing will help your kiddos learn to embrace and value art. I bet you just thought beading was fun - who knew it could be such an incredible tool?!

If you love stringing beads and designing jewelry, make sure you involve your littles. They would probably enjoy helping you finish your next necklace. If they are younger, make sure are vigilant that they do not put anything in their mouths. Beads, crimps, and other small items can be a choking hazard. And, let's be honest, some beads look delicious enough to eat!

If you think your children might have a hard time working with a beading wire, we have other options as well. Stretch Magic is perfect for children. Stretch Magic is an elastic like material that is very sturdy and very forgiving. Your kids can be rough with their jewelry and you can be assured they will not need to restring a broken design. Just make sure you learn how to finish the cord. Stretchy cord can be finished with a knot. You can also use a glue, like Special T Glue, to seal the knot so it never comes undone. Involve your family. Give the gift of beading and creativity!
