Would you like to help a great cause? Kathy Corbin has been a volunteer with Kansas City Hospice for almost a decade. She has spent that time trying to raise funds to benefit the hospice. She could use your help! It is easy to donate. Kathy is looking for your beads, jewelry, and jewelry making tools. If you have jewelry designs that never leave the jewelry box, give them a new home! Kathy can repurpose your old necklaces or sell them and that money will go to the comfort and aid of patients in hospice.
We originally published a blog about Kathy and her charity in September of 2019. The world was a very different place then. We have all experienced a historic amount of change and stress with the COVID pandemic. We wanted to provide an updated blog regarding Kathy and her work. The good news is she is still working diligently to raise funds for the hospice. Read our blog and find out how you can donate. She would love donations of beading wire, beads, jewelry making tools, and finished jewelry. If you have beading supplies that just sit around and never see the light of day, why not do a good deed and recycle those goods? You can send your jewelry donation to Kathy or the Story Boutique.

Amazing Jewelry At Story Boutique
Jewelry for Hospice is a volunteer jewelry recycling program created by Kathy Corbin and the Jewelry for Hospice designs are sold exclusively at Story Boutique to benefit Kansas City Hospice.
From Story Boutique:
How does Jewelry for Hospice work?
Individuals and community groups collect jewelry that is sitting unused in jewelry boxes, even if it’s outdated, broken or tarnished. The jewelry may be delivered in person or mailed to Story Boutique at 3704 W 95th St, Leawood, KS 66206.
Volunteers evaluate the jewelry into categories. Those that can be repaired and quickly rehabilitated are put into the jewelry case for sale immediately.
Pieces that are too outdated or broken are taken down into parts, sorted by color and stored for future use.
Volunteers contact bead shops, suppliers and manufacturers around the country, asking for donations of jewelry making supplies like wire and findings needed to make jewelry. (Sometimes they even send pieces ready to sell!)
Volunteer artists create new, original and unique necklaces, earrings and bracelets using donated materials — creating beauty from what might have been consigned to the junk bin.
Jewelry for Hospice designs are sold exclusively at Story Boutique.
Stay tuned for online sales of special pieces!

I would like to thank the Soft Flex Company once again for another great donation! I thought I would share with your readers what we have been doing with the Soft Flex Beading Wire... my absolute favorite beading wire!
I have been volunteering at Kansas City Hospice since 2013. In 2015, I started “Jewelry for Hospice”. This is a fundraising project to support the Hospice House at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care. I initially invested my own money to purchase beads and supplies and started making jewelry. I donate the finished pieces to Hospice where they are sold in their resale shop. All of the proceeds from the jewelry sales support the Hospice House and related services.
The jewelry I made sold quickly and I could no longer personally supply the materials to keep up with the demand. I began contacting bead suppliers all over the country for assistance and the response has been amazing! Everyone wanted to help!
Several times a year the Soft Flex Company has very generously donated to our project. We could not have made all the jewelry without the crucial beading wire they have given us.
Kansas City Hospice can always use donations of finished jewelry or beads and supplies. The finished jewelry donations keep our jewelry cases stocked while I am making new pieces. All jewelry donations are used in one form or another. If an item isn’t salable, it is either cleaned and repaired or taken apart to re-purpose. It’s a great way to recycle.
Please donate:
