What a wonderful week we had! Kay Goss kicked things off when she took over The Great Bead Extravaganza Facebook Page. Take overs are exciting event filled days leading up to the next big virtual bead show. Exhibitors from the online bead show will each have their chance to take over the Facebook page and share a day of jewelry making demonstrations and fun. Kay showed us how to make Halloween spiders using random beads. If you have beads you cannot find a use for - you need to make a cute spider ornament for the holidays! Next up, Kristen showed us how to make Pantone fall color earrings. She used Pantone color Adobe to make a warm set of lovely earrings that is perfect for a fall outfit. Rosanna Brafford showed us her Jesse James Beads and Soft Flex Beading Wire design. Finally, Nealay showed us how to make a Y-Style necklace with a button clasp. Halloween magic is here!

It is Owl-Leen at Soft Flex Company and our wise circle of owls are busy creating a little magic at the warehouse! We also show off one of our simple Kumihimo bracelets. Kumihimo is fun and easy for all ages. This Japanese braiding art looks amazing and has a storied history. Give a Kumihimo bracelet to the fellows in your life. Let them know that Samurai used Kumihimo braids to decorate their armor. Kumihimo looks incredible and you can infuse it with colorful strands of wire. Kumihimo means 'gathered threads' in Japanese. It is a form of braiding. Kumihimo braids can be used to create decorative lace, cords, jewelry or clothing accessories.
Historically, Kumihimo braids have been used in Samurai armor and weaponry. The braids were used as a functional knit for their armor pieces. Decoratively, it adorned their horses armor and the handles of their swords.
Modern Kumihimo disks are great for the crafter on the go. We love using our ten foot Soft Flex Color Wire spools as bobbins.
Why double density? The thick size makes holding the disk more secure and less bending occurs. Additional tension increased by thickness is useful also when braiding finer threads and wire.
